Best Margaritas in Leeds: Where to Celebrate National Tequila Day

Where to find a banging Margarita in Leeds for 'National Tequila Day'

National Tequila Day is just around the corner, and if there's one cocktail that deserves the spotlight, it's the mighty Margarita.

Whether you like yours classic with a salted rim, frozen and fruity, or packed with a spicy kick, Leeds has no shortage of places serving exceptional tequila-based cocktails. To help you celebrate the occasion, we've rounded up some of our favourite spots for a Margarita in Leeds.

Neon Cactus

If there's one spot that has become known for its love of tequila in Leeds, it's Neon Cactus. This Mexican-inspired bar on Call Lane has an impressive tequila and mezcal offering alongside a whole menu dedicated to Margaritas.

Outside seating at Neon Cactus in Leeds

Expect everything from a classic Margarita and Tommy's Margarita to more creative twists, plus frozen variations if you're feeling summery. Neon Cactus always has a vibe, it's got some outdoor seating for the warmer weather, and they notably hosted a 'does it marg?' TikTok series where they tried all sorts of weird and wonderful combos.

Rita's Beerhall & Ballroom

Rita's has quickly become a great spot for fun drinks and even better pizza. One of the things we love is that you can choose between different flavours and rim options for your Margaritas. If you fancy mixing it up, their Margarita slushies are pretty incredible and so refreshing, perfect for sipping in the sunshine! As much as their 'marg and a marg' (Margherita pizza slice and Margarita drink) offer is fun to say, it's actually pretty good to be able to get them both for just £9.

Madre & Salon Madre

For a true taste of modern Mexico in Leeds, Madre and Salon Madre are hard to beat. Sitting in Wellington Place and nearby on Wellington Street, these sister venues have built a reputation for tacos and cocktails.

If you're after a perfectly balanced classic Margarita or keen to explore the wider world of tequila and mezcal, you're in safe hands here. We love that you can make an evening of it too, starting with tacos and small plates before a few Marg's.

Green Room

The Green Room's lush terrace is already one of our favourite spots for a drink outdoors, and their rotating Margarita menu is another great reason to visit. Seasonal flavours often make an appearance, meaning there's usually something a little different on offer alongside the classic serves. Grab some friends, enjoy the sunshine, and raise a glass to National Tequila Day!

Azotea

Perched high above the city, Azotea combines stunning rooftop views with a cocktail menu inspired by Latin American flavours. It's hard to imagine a better setting for sipping a Margarita on a summer evening! Azotea has lots of cocktails to choose from, including a Tommy's and a classic Margarita. For National Tequila Day, it's the perfect excuse to enjoy a Margarita with one of the best views in the city.

Outlaws Yacht Club

For those who like a Margarita with a twist, Outlaws Yacht Club is ready and waiting to serve. Their creative interpretation of the cocktail combines traditional tequila and lime with passionfruit and green tea syrup, stunning if you ask us!

Farrands

If you've read any of our blogs, you'll know we've got the ultimate soft spot for Farrands. A beautiful wine and cocktail bar on Swinegate, with the loveliest staff. They have an extensive cocktail list, but make a pretty good Margarita worth shouting about!

Uyare

We'd be doing this list a disservice if we didn't mention the Mango Margarita at Uyare. We first tried it during Leeds Cocktail Week last summer, and it's safe to say we're still thinking about it.

Sweet, tropical mango paired with tequila and plenty of citrus made for a gorgeous summer cocktail that perfectly complemented Uyare's bold Indian flavours. If you're usually a classic Margarita drinker, trust us when we say this one is worth making an exception for. It was one of the standout cocktails we sampled all cocktail week, and we've definitely returned for one or two since!

What's the celebration about!?

Held annually on 24th July, National Tequila Day celebrates Mexico's most famous spirit. Made from blue agave and produced in specific regions of Mexico, tequila has become a staple ingredient in cocktails worldwide, with the Margarita remaining one of the most popular serves.

The combination of tequila, lime juice and orange liqueur has stood the test of time for a reason: it's refreshing, zesty, and incredibly easy to enjoy on a warm summer's day.
