Festive Food in Leeds

Tis' the season to find some festive food in Leeds!

Join us as we highlight some of the best festive dishes on offer in Leeds this Christmas.

Bundobust Christmas Menu

Known for its delicious vegetarian Indian food, Bundobust knows how to put on a festive feast! Think mince pie paratha, filled with sultanas, raisins, a combination of festive spices, cooked on a traditional tawa. That's not all folks; sprout bhajis with cranberry chutney, biryani balls and smoky festive dhal and rice are just some of this years' offerings this festive season. Finish off sweet with a Christmas kulfi, an Indian ice cream with nutmeg, cardamon and orange peel, delish!

The menu is available until 31st December, so make sure to not miss out on a Bundo-Christmas!

Little Bao Boy

As Little Bao Boy once quoted: "Forget the John Lewis Advert, disregard the M&S festive commercial and tell the Coca Cola lorry to do one", because the Mince Pie Bao is BACK!

If you're not into mince pies, look away now...pictured above is a deep fried bao, tossed in a delicious cinnamon sugar, stuffed with mince pie filling, AND it's vegan! We honestly think it's one of the best inventions ever, if you're into double sweet things then pair it with a North Brew Winter Cocktail Special... the Grog-Nog; dark rum, Chambord, lemon, ginger infused Gomme and ginger ale to top.

Things in Bread
Festive sausage, stuffing and brie sandwich

Now we don't want to alarm, or be too over dramatic but we genuinely think this is one of the BEST festive sandwiches we've ever tried...a statement! Things in Bread are widely known for their incredibly tasty filled sandwiches, and in true form they have only gone and outdone themselves by creating a three-piece festive sandwich menu to delve into this December.

'Festive Feast': Turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing and cranberry, with a side of gravy to pour or dunk. 'Pigs in bread': (pictured above!) BIG pigs in blankets, mini pigs in blankets, stuffing, brie and cranberry. 'All the trimmings': Cauliflower, cheddar and mozzarella sauce, seasonal carrot puree, stuffing and cranberry.

We had the 'Pigs in bread' and ordered a side of gravy (as this particular one didn't come with any), the sandwich was a mix of salty (the pigs) and sweet (the cranberry), it felt like a warm nostalgic hug in sandwich form. The gravy was a nice addition to dunk into, although we probably wouldn't buy it as an addition again, as it wasn't the best we've ever had! Make sure to go check them out this December for a festive mouthful- quite literally as their sandwiches are huge!

Doh'hut

So, we accidentally tripped and fell into Doh'hut after our festive sandwich, oops! To our delight we found another trio of festive goodies. Available until the end of December, they have; Terry's Chocolate Orange, Mulled Wine Jam and Bailey's Cheesecake donuts to get stuck in to. They're available all December and would make the perfect sugar-level top up to have mid Christmas shopping break or to get you through an afternoon at work!

Spud Bros

Canadian poutine

Indulge in some warming poutine at the Christmas Markets this December with Spud Bros! The queue to try this Canadian classic speaks wonders, and their festive special should be near the top of your list next time you're in town- the 'Brother Christmas Poutine'; is freshly cut skin-on fries, Canadian cheese, home-made gravy, chicken, peas, stuffing, cranberry sauce and crispy onions.

Meat:Stack

Out with the old and in with the new, if you're a -Die Hard- Meat:Stack fan, you'll know they have followed a Die Hard Christmas theme for the last six years, but new in for 2023 is their Home Alone themed Christmas burgers!

'An Angel with a Dirty Face'; Double (or triple) smashed patties, American cheese, brie, mayo, hash brown, sage and onion crumb, pickled red cabbage, and Leeds' very own Thiccc Sauce: spicy cranberry and blueberry glaze.

'The Spicy Shower Scene'; Fried chicken tenders, smoky mayo and katsu ketchup, katsu shake, grated carrot and pickled raddish, shredded lettuce and Thiccc Sauce's cranberry and blueberry glaze.

Crack Home Alone on and get a Meat:Stack Christmas special in your belly!

The Savvy Baker

If you're visiting Leeds Christmas Market this year, make sure to pay a visit to Leeds' very own 'The Savvy Baker'! They have a stall at the markets, a pop-up in White Rose and an online store, making it just a bit too easy to get hold of one of their festive bakes.

If you're looking for a chocolate fix they have yule logs (available online), a Christmas pudding brownie (pictured above, filled with a gooey caramel centre, rolled in a creamy milk choc), or choose one of their many flavours of festive brownies, including; Caramac gingerbread man brownie, reindeer Malteaser, chocolate orange, winter wonderland white chocolate and raspberry blondie, mince pie oat slice or a festive Biscoff flapjack, sorry we just had to fit them all in as they sound too good!

North Leeds Spotlight

The Leeds Deli

Your friendly neighbourhood Deli, The Leeds Deli, in Moortown serves up artisan pizza, pastries, focaccia sandwiches, fresh bread, sweet treats and more. You're in for a treat this month as they have some 'Festive Focaccia's' on to get you excited for the big day. Think hot stuffing, breaded turkey parmo, cheddar and cranberry sauce or a red wine brased cabbage, brie, and crispy sage and onion stuffing focaccia, or a decadent roast turkey, the crispiest pancetta, sprout slaw and gravy mayo.

It's a lovely spot to meet with friends or family in the run up to the big day.
