Where to Find The Best Pancakes in Leeds This Pancake Day

With Valentine's Day out of the way, it's almost time for pancake day! I'm not doing a pancake food tour unfortunately, but I have written you a guide on where to find the best pancakes in Leeds.

I've included my go-to places for the best pancakes in Leeds, plus some Pancake Day 2023 specials.

If you enjoy my blog posts and recommendations, make sure you check out the Leeds Food Tours e-book.

It's got a huge directory of independent food & drink venues in the city centre, with all of my favourites highlighted. You'll also find recipes in there from Leeds restaurants such as Whitelocks, Stuzzi, The Tetley and many more.

You can buy the e-book here for just £5.

Where to Find The Best Pancakes in Leeds City Centre

The Cheesy Living Co

The Cheesy Living Co. can be found in the Corn Exchange, providing you with amazing cheese and charcuterie. Jake & Soph started the business during lockdown as an online operation, before opening their shop. It's both a deli and a restaurant where you can enjoy a cheese board for lunch or visit on one of their pop-up nights.

For one day only, The Cheesy Living Co. (based in the Corn Exchange) will be serving pancakes instead of cheese.

Choose from classic (sugar and lemon), sweet or savoury. There are three sweet and three savoury options, the N'duja, cream cheese and honey one is jumping out at me!

Patty's Burgers at Belgrave Music Hall

Patty's (used to be called Patty Smith's) serve up fantastic burgers and some of the best loaded fries in Leeds, from a hatch inside Belgrave Music Hall. Perfect when enjoyed on the roof terrace in the summer with an Aperol Spritz in my opinion!

For one day only, they'll be doing pancakes with meat, veggie and vegan options from 12pm until 10pm or sell out. Patty's is known for excellent vegan options (I have been known to order their vegan burger when I'm usually a meat eater), so I'm sure their pancakes will be no different.

Olive & Rye

Olive & Rye is my favourite brunch spot in Leeds, particularly for the pancakes! It's a small cafe so you will definitely need to book ahead, especially at a weekend when it can be almost impossible to get in.

Both their mixed berry pancakes (topped with white chocolate & pistachio crumb and whipped mascarpone) and their bacon pancakes are winners.

Their Full English comes with crispy belly pork, and their Eggs Benedict is with gammon. Portion sizes are very generous, everything is made with locally sourced ingredients, and their brunch cocktails are spot on too!

Moose Coffee

"Ten years of dedication to providing the most authentic American & Canadian dishes" - so of course Moose is one of the places that you'll find the best pancakes in Leeds.

There are plenty of options to choose from. Go simple with Canadian maple syrup and butter, or choose one of their stacks such as the 'Moose Granola and Chocolate Peanut Butter' (topped with homemade granola, chocolate spread, peanut butter and orange pieces).

If you don't fancy pancakes, they have a whole section on their menu dedicated to Benedict (my favourite breakfast dish). The entire menu looks excellent to be fair!

IF... Up North

If is another always-great spot for pancakes in Leeds, with five different options to choose from.

Those with a very sweet tooth might like the 'Yorkshire fudge, toffee sauce, banana and honeycomb' pancakes, and there's "Bacon, maple syrup and toasted pecans' for those who need a bit of savoury in there.

They have a few cafés in Leeds but you'll need to go to the Call Lane one for pancakes. Be prepared to queue right up the street on a weekend, as its a very popular spot.

Neighbourhood

Strictly not pancake day as this is happening on Sunday, and I can't comment on the quality as I've never had their pancakes. But I had to include Neighbourhood for anyone who wants to go all out with their pancake day celebrations and enjoy...

Bottomless pancakes, and bottomless booze.

Enjoy stacks of pancakes covered in bacon, berries, yoghurt, chocolate sauce, berry coulis and maple syrup, whilst getting drunk on unlimited Prosecco, beer, gin, vodka, rum and their seasonal cocktail.

I tried the Sunday roast bottomless (ad) a few weeks ago and it was really fun - everyone was up dancing to great tunes between mouthfuls!
