Is Blue Pavilion in Leeds worth the price tag?
Apr 25, 2025
We recently visited Blue Pavilion, which is a fine dining Chinese restaurant owned by the same people as Blue Sakura.
After having it on our radar for a while, we visited last week to try out one of their set menus.
The Blue Pavilion experience
Gorgeously designed, traditional interiors and extremely accommodating staff, Blue Pavilion comes with a price tag, but is it worth the hype?

You’re greeted with an elegant, dimley lit venue that’s both perfect for groups and smaller intimate tables, this particular visit was on a Monday evening and it was great to see a busy restaurant filled with mixed size groups.
The set menu
We opted for the ‘supreme set menu’ coming in at £58pp, it’s worth noting they have another for £48pp, but the dim sum platter on the supreme menu was more of what we were looking for. Blue Pavilion have a range of set menu’s, differing in price, as well as lunch time menu and a la carte offerings.
Perfect for two, the platter we chose contained two of everything, saving the disagreements! Each was filled with incredibly tasty fillings: iberico siu mai, iberico xiao long bao, black gold king prawn ha gau and yuanbao scallop dumpling.

The pairing chilli sauce packed a punch, it was extremely flavoursome with a good amount of garlic, making it the ideal compliment for, well, everything we tried on the menu.
A chest of duck…
Expect over the top presentation if you visit, our duck arrived in a chest with drawers of sliced vegetables, and a side compartment of hoisin sauce.

The meat was some of the most succulent, tender duck meat we’ve ever tried, and the fat was perfectly cooked - it almost felt a shame to be putting such good quality meat into a pancake!
For main course, we opted for the Kung Po prawns and Dong Po pork.
The prawns were huge, so juicy and fried with a flavoursome batter in a tangy, lightly spiced sauce.

The pork is a traditional Chinese braised pork belly dish that’s both pan fried and slow cooked in a rich sauce, something we’d never tried before but really enjoyed!

The mains came with a fried jasmine rice each and a stir fried pak choi, both seasoned extremely well and complimented both dishes.
Overall verdict
Would recommend and would 100% return!
We can’t praise our visit to Blue Pavillion enough. Unlike some similar restaurants that can feel underwhelming for the price point, Blue Pavillion impressed us with its service, style, portion size and high-quality food, offering great value.
