Is this the best Indian street food in Horsforth?

It’s no secret that we LOVE Indian street food, we run Indian food tours and love our friends at Delhi Wala and Jah Jyot.

However, we recently ventured out to Horsforth to try Karobar’s new menu, if you haven’t heard of them, their speciality is Indian street food, and spoiler: they’re VERY good at it! they’re inside The Three Swords, and they’re the team behind Dastaan in Adel, so we already knew it would be great!

They’re inside The Three Swords, and they’re the team behind Dastaan in Adel, so we already knew it would be great!

We loved the vibe from the minute we walked in, it’s a laid back, relaxed feel in a gastropub setting.

Of course, our meal was accompanied by a pint from Kirkstall Brewery, who opened the pub in collaboration with Karobar back in 2023.

Let’s talk about the food:

We tried a number of dishes, as their concept is sharing, and we were more than happy to sample as much as we could! Some bits we tried were:

Pyaaz Pakora £5 -  crunchy and ideal for mopping up sauces at the end.

Amritsari fish £6 - the softest, melt in the mouth fish, perfectly spiced!

Tamarind glazed pork ribs £9 - Ellen’s favourite dish of the day, deep flavours, tender meat and deliciously messy - 10/10!

Chicken chettinad Pao sliders £9 - We felt sliders were the wrong way to describe them as you’d expect bite size, however this was a regular burger size. That being said it was delicious and a meal in itself if you’re not up for sharing!

We also tried the masala pulled pork desi tacos £10 - we love fusion, however these were our least fave dish - tasty but weren’t wow’ed like we were with some of the other dishes.

And finally, the prawn moilee curry £13 (plus rice £4), an excelent mild curry with lovely coconut flavours and very well cooked, large prawns.

Overall verdict on Karobar:

We really enjoyed our experience and would totally recommend to a friend! It’s the perfect place to meet with friends for a drink or two as well as enjoying some exceptionally tasty Indian street food, at a reasonable price.

Karobar feels like that go-to local neighbourhood spot where there’s always a hub of people out enjoying themselves, which we’re here for!
