Inside our International Women’s Day Networking Food Tour in Leeds

How our International Women’s Day Networking Food Tour went

Back in March, we hosted a special International Women’s Day Networking Food Tour, and what an evening it turned out to be. What started as a one‑off idea quickly became one of the most uplifting, energising events we’ve ever run at Leeds Food Tours.

It was a night filled with brilliant conversation, incredible women, and, of course, plenty of delicious independent food.

A Women‑Only Networking Event With a Twist

Because we were hosting, it could only be a food tour. Instead of a formal networking setup, we wanted something relaxed, intimate, and actually fun, the kind of environment where people connect naturally, not because they’re told to.

And that’s exactly what happened.

From the moment we set off, the group clicked. It was the kind of evening where you leave feeling lighter, inspired, and totally uplifted. In fact, it was so enjoyable that Ellen forgot she was technically working.

What we ate

We curated a route that showcased some of our favourite independent spots in Leeds, with a mix of flavours and stories along the way. The menu for the night included:

  • Tacos to kick things off
  • Supplì - a Roman stuffed rice ball
  • Chicken chaat, packed with spice and crunch
  • A chilli tasting to build our heat tolerance
  • And finally, a silky burnt Basque cheesecake to finish

Between bites, the conversation flowed effortlessly, business, life, family, hobbies, and everything in between.

A special chilli tasting experience

One of the highlights of the evening was our stop at The Chilli Shop, where Frank hosted a brilliant tasting session featuring products made exclusively by women. He shared the stories behind the producers, their businesses, and the inspiration behind their sauces.

It was powerful, delicious, and a perfect fit for an IWD celebration. Several of us left with bottles of Yoyo Lao Sauce, which we've been enjoying at home since.

Why this event was so important

There was something special about bringing together a group of women who didn’t know each other but left feeling connected. The atmosphere was warm, supportive, and full of laughter, exactly what we hoped for when we planned the event.

It reminded us how food can bring people together in a way that feels natural and joyful!

More networking events coming soon

The feedback from the night was overwhelmingly positive, and many guests asked if we’d run more events like this. The answer is yes - absolutely!

Our next event is Wednesday 22nd April at 5:30pm and open to EVERYONE!
