Burgers are a long-standing fave of ours, and Leeds' burger scene has well and truley boomed in the last few years, it's fair to say we've got some of the best burger joints around slinging out their smash patties for us to enjoy!
Below are some of the best burgers in Leeds City Centre, stay tuned for smash patties, loaded fries and crispy chicken...
Fancy joining us on a food tour in Leeds?
Leeds Food Tours (that's us!) offer guided and self-guided food tours around the city centre, stopping at six independent venues, with food at each!
You'll try different cuisines and we will show you some of our favourite spots around the city centre, they're a great idea to do something a little different with friends or family.
Slap and Pickle
You'll find Slap and Pickle in Brewery Tap and The Wardrobe in the centre, but they've got locations across Yorkshire, Manchester and more recently, London and Liverpool. At Slap and Pickle, you can enjoy burgers like the Personal Cheese-Us, the Baconator, the Triple Threat, and the Hey Hot Stuff.
Their Oklahoma Slap burger offers you a 40-day dry-aged grass-fed Yorkshire beef smash patty with fine sliced onions smashed straight into the patty. Just like they do in Oklahoma, but this time - in Leeds!
Importantly, they use local, ethical meat in their burgers, and they have an extensive vegan and veggie burger menu too, which is just as good as their meaty options!
Their loaded fries are unbeatable too, featuring cheeseburger fries, crispy chicken and gravy, chicken kyiv fries, the list goes on!

Pattys Burgers
Originally a temporary pop up at Belgrave, but has since been a permanent fixture, when we wrote about them back in 2020, we had our faves; the Dirty Burger, the Colonel Patty - chicken burger, Hot BSTRD and the Leafeater, whereas their menu now is smaller, but still includes their staples; meat, chicken and vegan burgers!
Pattys beef burgers use steak meat from Yorkshire which is always free range/outdoor reared, and their beef is from grass fed native cattle breeds. They use locally sourced vegetables and herbs too.
The best bit? If it's a nice day (wishful thinking) you can enjoy it up on their roof terrace! Luckily Belgrave have covered seating so even if the heavens open, you can enjoy with a nice pint of beer, taking in the rooftop views of Leeds.

Meat:Stack
MEAT:STACK joined the Leeds scene with their steamed, smash burgers back in June 2022, with their commitment to quality ingredients and unique cooking techniques reflect in the taste of their wide variety of burger, chicken and chip selections on the menu.
Double or triple up on your patty, we really highly suggest that you try one of their ‘house-made dip pots’ to submerge your beef dripping fries into- a firm favourite of ours is their ‘House Ranch’.
We've mentioned in our 'Child-friendly restaurants in Leeds blog', which you can find here, MEAT:STACK offers a fantastic children's menu, including a beef or chicken burger with a small portion of fries and a Fruit Shoot, for only £3 when purchased alongside an adult's meal.

There’s a variety of tipples for the adults, ranging from American lagers, gin and tonic cans, or if that’s not your thing- they serve five flavours of delicious shakes or refillable soda’s.

Hooyah
Located on Albion Street in the centre, Hooyah rose to popularity after Rate My Takeaway's Danny dragged his table and chairs up and tucked in on on a 'create your own burger' featuring the two 4oz beef burgers, Miami chick'n patty, *specifically no pickles*, American cheese, blue cheese, Hooyah sauce, streaky bacon and Missouri fries.
We love their different concept of DIY burgers, it's such a good idea to perfect your ideal burger, they use a range of local suppliers and it shows through their food. Perfect for friend or family meet ups, it has fantastic vegan options and a seperate gluten-free menu.

Big Buns
Big Buns specialities are smash burgers, buttermilk chicken burgers, loaded fries and wings. They're located in the wonderful Northern Market, making it a great spot to go out, enjoy some Northern Monk beers, amazing burgers and loaded fries.
A venture brought to us by Falafel Guys, Big Buns launched back in 2020, initially moving between a couple of different bars and pubs, until they found their home in Northern Market and Salt in Oakwood.

Döner Summer
Some of the best vegan food in Leeds, Döner Summer is a fully vegan restaurant and takeaway serving burgers, kebabs and loaded fries. They've got four vegan burgers on their menu, classique, buffalo ranch, what's garlic in french and philly bbq all featuring a buttermylk pattie and accompanying sauces and toppings to give it that burger feel.
When we tried it, as non-vegans, we were impressed with the flavours of the burgers, did infact replicate a meat burger, their loaded animal fries/tater tots are a must order and are a homage to InNOut's famous animal fries!
