Where we ate in March: Leeds & Yorkshire food spots we loved

Where we ate in March (That isn’t on our food tours!)

March was another brilliant month of eating and drinking our way around Yorkshire (and a little beyond). None of these spots are on our food tours, just places we visited, enjoyed, and want to shout about.

Here’s everywhere we ate in March, with a mix of new discoveries, old favourites, and a few places we’re already planning to revisit.

Partisan, York

Partisan continues to be one of York’s most charming independents; warm, creative, and always serving plates that feel like a hug. Whether you go for brunch or something heartier, the food is thoughtful and beautifully put together. A perfect slow‑morning spot!

Uyare, Leeds – gifted

We visited Uyare for a gifted meal this month, to try out their new small plate and cocktail meny. We've been before for drinks, and have tried their sister restaurant, the famous Tharavadu, so of course, Uyare delivered big flavours and a genuinely fun elevated dining experience. You can expect bold spices, colourful plates, and a menu that feels fresh and different in the Leeds scene! We loved the fish curry, South Indian inspired calamari and the paratha was so delicious to mop up all the sauces. Highly recommend for a meal out with friends.

Rinse Natural Wine, Leeds

A cosy, stylish spot for anyone who loves natural wine. Great bottles, it's definitely a spot where the cool people visit. Rinse is the perfect pre‑dinner or date‑night stop (which is when we visited, before a trip to Crowded House!). We'd like to go and give it another go sometime soon.

The Boundary House, Methley

A classic gastropub done well, generous portions, comforting dishes, and a welcoming atmosphere. The Boundary House is a great spot for a Sunday roast or a midweek treat.

📍24 Church Side, Methley, Leeds LS26 9EE

Rudy’s, Leeds

Reliable, delicious, and pretty much always consistent. Rudy’s remains one of our go‑to spots for Neapolitan pizza when we want something quick and tasty. If you're yet to try, make sure to order the Tonno pizza; tuna, red onion, roquito peppers, oregano, basil and olive oil, you *must* order the garlic aioli dip to enjoy - let us know if you try, it's a 10/10!

📍2 New Station St, Leeds LS1 5DL (also in Chapel Allerton, Headingley and Harrogate)

Bakchich, Liverpool, BUT coming soon to Leeds!

We stopped by Bakchich in Liverpool and loved the vibrant Lebanese street‑food style menu. Having visited before, it's fresh, flavourful, and extremely great value. We're not sure where or when they're due to open, but we cannot WAIT!

Salt Bar & Kitchen, Saltaire

A friendly neighbourhood spot with great beer, great wood-fired pizza, and a relaxed atmosphere. Salt Bar is perfect after a walk around Saltaire or a casual meet‑up with friends. In March we visited with two family members who require gluten-free food, they raved about how nice the gluten-free pizza bases were, so this is one for those of you who know someone who can't eat wheat but loves pizza!

The Ivy Asia, Leeds

Yes, it’s flashy. Yes, it’s a chain. But it's beautiful inside, fantastic service and very good food whenever we've visited. Beautiful plates, dramatic décor, and a fun night out - Lynda visited The Ivy Asia in March with her daughter to enjoy the set lunch menu for her birthday and was highly impressed!

📍55 Vicar Ln, Leeds LS1 6BA

House of Bread, Frizinghall

A wholesome Polish bakery with excellent bread and pastries. House of Bread is family run and has been around for a few years. We first visited in 2022 after hearing how good their fresh bread was. If you’re anywhere near Bradford/Saltaire/Shipley, it’s worth a detour for a loaf or a sweet treat! Make sure to try their poppy seed pastry and rum and sour cherry cake. They also do very good coffee! Get here early, as it's gone viral on socials recently, meaning you'll have to stand in a small queue.

The Crowded House, Leeds

A lively spot with a menu full of crowd‑pleasers, get it? Great for lunch, or dinner, it's the kind of place where you always spot something new you want to try next time! In March we visited for the third time (oops), we obviously ordered the bread - a must! As well as a charred mackrel, smoked cod roe starter. For mains we got the bavette and the Barnsley chop, with the most perfectly cooked fries and tenderstem broccoli in a cafe de Paris butter (wasn't wow'ed by this). All acompanied by Nero D'Avola and washed down with two guiness sticky toffee puddings.

We've genuinley not had a bad meal here or at Three's a Crowd, which is who own Crowded House. Prices are definitely more than TAC, however it feels an elevated experience given the location and offering. Great for special occasions and we know we'll be regulars on their rooftop over summer!

Paria Café, Chapel Allerton - multiple visits!

We couldn’t stay away this month. Paria Café has become one of our regulars thanks to its friendly team, and incredible offering of freshly baked goods. When you go back multiple times in a month, you know it’s doing something right!
