Black Friday With a Difference at Leeds Food Tours

It's Black Friday this week, and across the country people are searching for the best offers. Pretty much every brand I follow, whether that's on social media or email subscription, have a Black Friday deal!

At Leeds Food Tours, instead of a Black Friday sale, I will be donating some of my profits to a local charity.

If you purchase a self-guided food tour between now and 11.59pm Saturday, 10% of the profits will go straight to Leeds Mind via their Just Giving page

The self-guided food tours make perfect Christmas gifts, especially for couples, and by purchasing over Black Friday (and surrounding days) you can feel good about it too!

About Leeds Mind

A few weeks ago I asked on my instagram stories for suggestions of which charity to donate to, and Leeds Mind came up several times.

Leeds Mind is a local, independent charity, affiliated with the Mind Federation.

It offers services such as counselling, group therapy, social support, peer support, social prescribing, employment support, suicide bereavement support, and mental health training.

I personally have suffered with poor mental health previously (depression and anxiety) and hugely benefitted from talking therapy.

I was in the very fortunate position to be able to get private care thanks to health insurance - I saw an urgent Psychiatrist when I was 18, and then a counsellor and CBT specialist whilst at uni. I honestly don't know what I would have done otherwise as the waiting lists for the NHS were around 6 months!!

A lot of people don't have the option of private healthcare, so this charity is very very important, and I hope that even a small donation can make a small difference.

Why a Donation Instead of a Black Friday Sale?

You'll see loads of Black Friday sales over the next couple of days, and I think we can all agree that savings are much needed at the moment!

However, as a small business (just me) I have to think carefully about sales as they come straight out of my income.

This doesn't mean that I don't have sales, but as I don't really like Black Friday anyway (it puts pressure on small businesses to do sales they can't afford), it feels like a charity donation is the best thing to do on this occasion.

No judgement for making the most of the Black Friday sales by the way, I'm sure I will be picking up some bargains myself as I need the savings as much as anyone else!

Self-Guided Food Tours

I'll be donating 10% of profits from sales of the Leeds self-guided food tours to Leeds Mind over the Black Friday period.

In case you don't already know about the self-guided food tours, let me explain.

Leeds Mind Black Friday Self-Guided Food Tour

Each self-guided food tour is suitable for two people - so it's the perfect gift for couples! You get an envelope containing instructions, map, information cards and food tokens, all printed on the loveliest paper and card.

Simply follow the map to six independent, street food venues, and hand in the tokens at each stop. You'll have a choice of dishes (including vegan options) to pick from at each stop, and all food is included in the price of the tour.

There's loads of food, loads of fun facts, and you'll discover new places to return to.

If you'd like to buy a self-guided tour for yourself or as a gift, you can do so here.
