Best Vegetarian Restaurants in Leeds, That Even Meat Eaters Will Love

If you're looking for the best vegetarian restaurants in Leeds city centre, you've come to the right place!

I'm writing this during National Vegetarian Week (15th - 21st May 2023), but of course great vegetarian food isn't limited to those date.

My top vegetarian restaurants have been chosen because their food is delicious, and happens to be vegetarian. Some of these restaurants are fully vegetarian, some of them serve meat but have amazing vegetarian options.

The focus is on vegetarian restaurants in Leeds rather than vegan, although there is of course a crossover. So it's not so much about 'vegan junk food', it's more about hearty, delicious food that is without meat by nature.

I'm a meat eater, but these places are some of my favourites in Leeds regardless. If you're a regular reader, you'll probably notice they are all places I talk about a lot!

Eat Your Greens - Best Organic Vegetarian Restaurant in Leeds

Eat Your Greens is an organic restaurant with sustainability, low waste & local/seasonal produce at heart.

Vegetarian restaurants in Leeds - a brown plate at eat your greens with artichoke cooked four ways, including a puree, pickled, roasted and fried.
It's not a fully vegetarian/vegan restaurant as there is usually some meat and fish on the menu, but it's definitely one of the best restaurants for vegetarians & vegans in Leeds.

Choose from small plates, large plates and salad bowls, all using organic produce from local suppliers such as Meanwood farm. The dishes are always innovative, and I've never had vegetables as good as the ones cooked up at Eat Your Greens.

The below is artichoke four ways, and I didn't even think I liked artichoke before this.

I also love the 'Staff Bowl' at lunch time, packed full of salad, grains and veggie delights.

Manjit's Kitchen

An all-vegetarian menu of Indian street food, found inside Kirkgate Market. Manjit also has a site on Kirkstall road if you are venturing slightly outside of the city centre.

The best samosa chaat around, and I particularly love the Chilli Paneer Wrap and the Pakora wrap. Sometimes we visit Manjit's Kitchen on the guided food tour of Leeds!

The Tetley

Their daily brunch & lunch menu is fully veggie, with meat-based dishes on their rotating specials menu and their Sunday roast menu.

The food is absolutely divine, and as a meat eater I definitely didn't feel that meat was missed in any way. The last time I ate at The Tetley a couple of weeks ago, I had:

'Spiced potato cake, poached egg and peas' which came with deep fried halloumi, a poached egg, picked celery and house-made baked beans. It was fantastic!

Delhi Wala Food - Best 'Hidden Gem' Vegetarian Restaurant in Leeds

I've included Delhi Wala Food in a few of my emails recently, because it really is one of my new favourite hidden gems!

A great balance of meat and vegetarian dishes on the menu, as well as an entire menu dedicated to vegan dishes.

The nature of the cuisine means that many of the authentic dishes are vegetarian anyway, and it's often a case of just swapping out yoghurt for coconut yoghurt to make the dishes vegan.

A must-try in Leeds for sure!

Bundobust - Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Leeds For Craft Beer Lovers

Probably the best known, and most loved, all-vegetarian restaurant in the city centre.

More Indian street food, perfectly paired with craft beer. Small plates designed to share, with modern twists on authentic dishes - and another place you won't even notice is vegetarian.

Look out for their specials too: their Indo-Chinese menu was fantastic!

OWT - Best Vegetarian Restaurant in Leeds When Your Friends Want Fried Chicken

Famous for their fried chicken, but they always have just as much (or more) vegetarian food as they do meat dishes.

And they are just the best place in Leeds for lunch, I really love Owt.

The menu changes every few weeks, but to give you an example of the types of dishes you might find, they currently have a Hash Brown Plate (Hash browns, garlic mushrooms, house beans) and a Big Satay Salad (house satay sauce, fried tofu, carrot, cabbage, spring onion, sesame seeds) on the menu, alongside Sausage & Mash.
